This study is a great advance as it revealed a risk factor for diabetes and also revealed a cause of uncontrolled diabetes which will allow doctors to use it as a treatment measure beside hypoglycemic drugs or insulin. "This suggests that improving sleep quality in diabetics would have a similar beneficial effect as the most commonly used anti-diabetes drugs," said Eve Van Cauter, PhD, professor of medicine and co-author of the study. |
