U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will highlight reform efforts in Tennessee during a Race to the Top forum with Governor Bill Haslam, Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman, and Knox County Supt. Jim McIntyre. The event will be held at West High School in Knoxville, Tenn., at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 6.
Students, teachers, parents and community leaders will join the officials for the forum. Tennessee won a $500 million grant in the first phase of the Department’s Race to the Top competition to implement comprehensive, coherent, statewide education reform. A media avail will follow at 2:45 p.m.
