The U.S. Department of Education’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Rural Outreach, John White, will join the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Under Secretary for Rural Development, Cheryl Cook, in Big Sky, Mont. June 8-9 to brief rural state school chiefs on how the two Departments are working together to increase awareness of federal resources available to support high-need rural schools. White and Cook will give overviews and discuss their respective Department’s work to support rural schools. The events, sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers, are part of the activities of the annual meeting of the rural chief state school officers.
