Department Official to Discuss STEM Education and Initiatives to Spur Education Innovation at Project Lead The Way’s Natio

Jim Shelton, assistant deputy secretary for the Office of Innovation and Improvement, will provide keynote remarks at Project Lead The Way’s National Innovation Summit Thursday, Oct. 21 in Washington, D.C. Shelton will talk about the Department’s programs and initiatives that support educational innovations aimed at enriching the learning experience in both schools and communities.

The summit will serve as a platform to discuss the latest in STEM education, including the use of leading technologies, effective teaching methods and electronic assessments. The summit also will showcase student projects and award winning schools. Project Lead the Way works with middle and high schools to provide a rigorous STEM education. It uses an engaging and hands-on curriculum to encourage the development of problem-solving skills, critical thinking, innovative reasoning and a love of learning.
