The event will feature 37 pieces of juried artwork focusing on personal directions in portfolio development by students from school systems representing every Congressional district in the state of Maryland. It also will feature performances by Marriotts Ridge High School String Quartet and by Jordon Nicholsen of the Suitland High School Visual and Performing Arts Center, and remarks by students Peter Favinger of River Hill High School in Howard County Public Schools and Annie Bishai of Towson High School in Baltimore County Public Schools.

Grasmick, National Art Education Association President R. Barry Shauck, Maryland Art Education Association President Brenda T. Makle, and Maryland student artists.

The Department’s Student Art Exhibit Program, now in its seventh year, features visual art created by students in U.S. and international schools, and provides students and teachers an opportunity to display creative work from the classroom in a highly public space that honors their work as an effective path to learning and knowledge for all.
