Can direct inguinal hernia affects man's fertility?

I have direct inguinal hernia and I'm wonder if direct inguinal hernia can affects man's ability to father a child. I'm just 24 and single I'm so scared...It is safe for me to under go hernia surgery?

It all depends on the  hernia you have and where it is. Sometimes the hernia can push up against a mans testicles potentially causing long-term problems. The placement of the hernia that causes the fertility problems is very rare, and that's why most men don't have problems later on, but it is possible.
