Dr. Brenda Dann-Messier, assistant secretary for the Office of Vocational and Adult Education, will give keynote remarks at the 4th Annual National Conference on Effective Transitions in Adult Education Monday, Nov. 15 in Warwick, R.I. At noon, Dann-Messier will talk about the Administration's adult basic education and literacy efforts, and at 4:30 p.m. she will participate in a policy panel on career and technical education.
The conference is co-sponsored by the National College Transition Network (NCTN) and World Education. The NCTN provides individual learning centers, cities, and states with state-of-the-art services and products that strengthen their capacity to prepare adult learners for the rigors of college. World Education performs work worldwide to help the educationally disadvantaged with training and technical assistance in nonformal education across a wide array of sectors, including environmental education, community development, maternal and child health, and school governance. World Education also works to strengthen literacy and adult basic education programs in the United States.
