1. Unexplained weight loss.
Nearly 60% of women report that they are concerned about their weight.  This is why when weight loss occurs many embrace the loss rather than question it. If you haven’t been actively exercising, dieting, or have another logical reason for weight loss it is a good idea to make an appointment with your doctor. Unexplained weight loss can be an early sign of colon, liver and digestive cancers.

2. Fatigue
Jobs, kids plus a household to run is enough for most women to feel exhausted all the time. Feeling run-down most often is attributed to stress and other lifestyle factors. However, it can be a sign of leukemia. So, if the fatigue doesn’t resolve with sleep and stress reduction then it should be discusses with a health care provider.

3. Rectal bleeding
If there is blood in the toilet after you have a bowl movement then call the doctor. Most women diagnosed with colorectal cancer experienced this symptom but believed that it was “just hemorrhoids”.

4. Back pain
Many women suffer from back pain and it isn’t usually a cause for alarm. However, many women with pancreatic, liver, and breast cancer recall feeling chronic back pain before they were diagnosed. If you have unexplained back pain or in conjunction with other symptoms let be sure to let your health provider know.

5. A tummy ache
Who hasn’t had a stomach ache they just ignore? Stomach aches can be attributed to just about anything including stress, “a bug”, bad lunch, or indigestion. However, be aware that any stomach cramp or upset that persists chronically could a sign of liver or colorectal cancer.

6. Unusually heavy or painful periods
Unfortunately, these are also a symptoms of perimenopause. If you are experiencing excessive bleeding or pain during your menstruation then ask your doctor for a transvaginal ultrasound to screen for endrometrial or uterine cancer.
