"You have your breath"

Posted Mar 16 2009 3:39pm

This statement has been repeated to me several times over the past week by different teachers in yoga class. Yes, it's a blessed conspiracy to get me to acknowledge and breathe, deeply. It worked!

How many times have you convinced yourself that you need to do A-Z before:

  • Change can happen
  • You can deal with the hard stuff
  • You can receive the good stuff

We go through physical, mental, and emotional twists and turns convincing ourselves with elaborate reasons for just about everything. Breathe. Before you get into the drama, breathe. These teachers said - let your body and breath teach you, go into those tight places, and breathe. They were right! When I imagined that I was bringing my breath to the pose, I found that I could stretch further and my mind felt calmer. It's becoming more automatic, to be able to breathe deeply in any area of my life and immediately feel better.

You always have your breath. Breathing is the gateway to accessing the rest of the resources you need. Now, have at it, take a nourishing one.
