Shake it!

I can' t help myself, I had to write about dancing two weeks in a row.

Last Friday, I boogied the night away at the Wild & Scenic film festival party. DJ Dragonfly is a friend and one of my favorites to dance to. A fusion of world music with hip hop undertones and lots of drumbeats. Whew baby!

When' s the last time you shook your groove thang?

In fact, stand up, right now and give it a little shake shake, some side to side, a bit of shimmy, and toe tapping (excuse yourself to the restroom if you don' t want to share your groove with others). Our bodies are meant to move. And they like to move creatively, with no restrictions. There' s a place for rules and structure and planning and thinking very seriously (ok, maybe not that last one). Then there' s a time to let it all go.

Let yourself be fluid. Be a noodle. An ocean. A chicken. Mix it up y' all. Realize that the physical stiffness, emotional fear, and mental tension you experience can be relieved through dance. All of that is just built up energy needing to be expressed and moved.

One of the healthiest declarations you could make for your life is to dance daily. Not only will it help you feel better, it also opens the door to your intuition. When there is built up gunk on any level (emotional, mental, physical, energetic), it can be harder to access your intuition. Intuition is truly the best friend you could have.
