Hello Life!

Today is the first Monday that I haven’t had to worry about traveling that Friday since August!  It is amazing.  I may actually be able to relax, get some chores done and simply calm down a little bit.  Or at least we can hope!

How was your weekend?  Mine flew by.  It was fun, bit dramatic and in general a great time.  We headed to Blacksburg on Friday night with Justin’s mother in tow.  We got into town and basically crashed.  Early Saturday morning came too fast!  Noon games are not my favorite.  When you are aiming to start tailgating at 9AM, the alarm comes way too early.

To try and avoid (not sure if I succeeded) in eating too much, I went to the tailgate/game prepared.

A taste bowl of yogurt, cheerios and a spoonful of almond butter for breakfast.

And I packed my lunch.  An english muffin with some more almond butter and some honey.

Got swished together, put in a ziplock bag and shoved in my purse for later.

I ate this right when we were walking into the game at noon.

I didn’t eat anything at the tailgate before the game and had 2 Magic Hats (and maybe 1/3 of a Coors Light).  We came back to the tailgate at halftime where I had another Magic Hat….and a plate with some veggie terra chips, some tortellini and a bit of frosted chex mix.  I sort of regret it.

After the game we headed back to the tailgate for a little bit and then went downtown.  I need to get the pictures from Alice.  She was taking so many that I figured I didn’t need to take any.  We hit a few bars downtown.  I had 2 Michelob Ultras and 2/3 of a Corona light.  Then I called it quits for the day drinking.  We bar hopped around, ate dinner (I had a grilled chicken sandwich with mozzorella and some onion rings) and bar hopped some more.  Around 10:30 we were done and headed back to my mom’s to put on PJ’s and relax.  I ate a bit of the apple cake while I was at Mom’s but we all sat around (Brian, Alice, Justin, me and my mom) telling stories.  Some how we started telling ghost stories and I think Alice was terrified to sleep that night!  Did I eat well?  Not really.  I drank a bit too.  I wasn’t ever drunk but still…I’m worried I’ll pay for all this when I weigh myself on Thursday.

Sunday morning we woke up, had to tell Alice and Brian goodbye (I’m already planning my next trip to Austin), hung out with my family for a bit and then we hit the road.  Stopped at Quizno’s on the way home where I got a cup of tomato basil soup and a small steak and bleu salad.  Both quite good (sorry, no photos!).  Then we got home–I planted some bulbs and decorated the house with some Halloween decorations. Finally I got to relax and watch some TV (caught up on my Hero’s!)

I think I was eating because 1.) I didn’t want to work out and 2.) I just was lazy and bored and I snacked.  I wasn’t exactly hungry but I wasn’t full.  Who knows.  Zero will power.  At least I motivated to the gym after this!

Justin came and swam with me which was a nice addition.  I definitely felt the weight of all that cereal in my belly while I swam.  I tried to really push myself in an attempt to make up for the weekend of eats. 

We finally headed home and both wanted a quick and simple dinner.  I also wanted something light!

I roasted a bunch of vegetables (red skin potatoes, carrots, onions, beets, sweet potatoes, and rutabaga) with olive oil at 425 for 25 minutes. I served mine on a bed of romaine lettuce with a few slice of swiss cheese and a little bit of balsamic vinegar. Light and filling.

I snacked on 2 un-pictured Brach’s pumpkins for dessert.

Breakfast

We have so much fruit in our house right now that I knew I needed to make a dent in it–so I started with breakfast.

A small grapefruit broiled with 2t of brown sugar.

and a bowl of oats with a splash of milk, cinnamon, a little bit of honey and 1/2T of peanut butter.

My favorite! Pumpkin pie yogurt.  I cannot get enough of this stuff!

Ugh–I hate feeling guilty for my weekend eats.  It was a fun weekend but looking back I definitely don’t think I made good choices.  Hopefully I can be extra healthy and controlled for the next few days and I won’t pay for it too badly!
