Can loosening your shoulders affect your state of mind? That’s what I am pondering. I have been a yoga student for many years now. On many occasions I feel like giving up and letting it all go. But something keeps me hooked. Perhaps it’s knowing that for the last few years I have had more aches and pains than usual…and I haven’t been as consistent with my yoga practice. Why not make a commitment to consistency so I can determine the overall effect it has on my entire well being.
And it’s still too early to tell. I do seem to have more mobiity. The bigger question is does it make you freer and happier? I believe it does. As your body moves freer you are more spontaneous in the way you move and in the way you respond to things. This obviously has been my path. The commitment to a long term practice. I have been commited to meditation for over 30 years. I don’t think about whether I want to do it…I just do it. The real value in anything is not on the surface; it’s only when you dive to the deeper levels of what’s possible. That’s when you connect with the source. With whatever you are working on, you will experience many cycles but’s it’s in riding them out, that you will gain a new sense of freedom.
Ask yourself honestly, what’s in the way of your making a long term commitment?
