An interesting question and a controversial one. I think that coaching a team doesn't imply that your goal should be to have a winning team. Nor does being a coach imply that you are merely babysitting the kids. In my view, coaching a team means that you are helping each person rise up to their potential. You may have a group of kids who will never win a race, but you can help them do the best they can, based on their physical bodies, conditions at home, etc.
