Since I graduated from high school in 2007, I have moved a lot. Besides going through 4 different dorm rooms in 4 different dorm buildings in college, I also had an apartment in Athens, Greece for a semester abroad, a teeny, tiny studio apartment above a kebab stand in Avignon, France for a summer, several rooms in different treatment centers, and not to mention 6 apartments in two different states in the last 12 months. It’s a fair statement to say I’m used to change when it comes to where I live.
I can see my newest residence being my last until I get married. That won’t be happening any time soon, so don’t get all excited now
Welcome to my home!
The Living Room:
Bookshelves from Target
Desk from Ikea
I also have a dining room area, a kitchen, a bedroom (obviously), and a bathroom, but they aren’t decorated yet and the dining room lacks a table (minus the two person one I got from Ikea last year that is laughable). I’ll be sure to post more pictures as everything gets decorated!
I have to say that out of all the places I’ve lived, this one is the only one that has felt like home. It faces southwest so I have an amazing view:
Not to mention a lot of natural sunlight, which was severely lacking in my last place. I’m really happy here and feel like my environment finally reflects the internal shifts I’ve made and who I’ve become. I love having a pond right outside, a view of the mountains, and a safe neighborhood to run in.
Truth be told, I’m not the most organized person. I wouldn’t say I’m messy, but I tend to create a lot of clutter. One of my goals for the next two weeks is to unpack the remaining 2 boxes in my den and find some kind of storage system for the random odds and ends in there. I also tend to build up piles of papers, receipts, random advertisements that are left at my door or mailbox, etc and leave them on my kitchen counter or my desk. As they say, “Messy bed, messy head”. My bedroom is actually pretty spotless, as I don’t like to have a lot of tchotchkes around since I’m easily distracted. On my nightstand I only have a salt lamp, a salt crystal heart, Calms Forté sleep aid, a water bottle, and chapstick.
In other news, we’re expecting more snow this weekend (drag) and I’m not looking forward to it. Today it’s supposed to be around 58 F so that means that as soon as my lunch has settled (BBQ lentils…mmmm) I’m going out for a glorious run in the sunshine!
Yesterday I was lucky enough to redeem a gift card I had at a spa in Denver and got an amazing Vitamin C Facial:
Yes, that is a mimosa in my hand. It was 5:00 somewhere!
I hope you are all having a lovely week! Please check back in the next few days for a special offer on some amazing skin care products!!
How do you keep organized? Have you moved a lot or have you found the perfect home?
