The energy-saving bulb that'll work with a dimmer

Posted Sep 12 2008 6:51pm

I think this is the first dimmer-friendly CFL bulb you can buy in the UK. It's certainly the first I've seen. Known as the DorS bulb, it's on sale as a five-pack for a mighty pricey £73 over at Ecoelectricals, and is made by Megaman (see the PDF here ). Since it uses 11W compared to old 60-100W bulbs, this is one big money and carbon saver for any dimmer homeowners feeling excluded from eco lighting. I'm best pleased at the debut of this bulb - I know, I should get out more - because it kills off another excuse procrastinators have for switching from incandescent bulbs, along with myths about poor levels of illumination, ugly designs and the like.
