The Best Memories with my Dad

Posted Jul 07 2008 7:16pm

I’ve been thinking what home interior products one could get for their father for Father’s Day, and then I got to thinking…my best and most memorable times with my dad were our experiences together.

My birth father passed on some time ago - and I now have the honor of having an “Assistant Dad” as my mum’s now beloved likes to call himself. He has earned the title of “Dad” in my heart now.

Yesterday, my dad visited and we had the best time having an early Father’s Day celebration. We went to the Library Cafe in Greenwood run by a very sweet couple. When the owner is there, he always comes out to check on the meal. On a bonus note, they are working towards sustainability in their business with composting, using take out containers of recycled content and so on.

After that, dad and I palled around and then I took him back to the airport. Overall, a great time and precious memories.

So this year, and every year, why not just give the gift of sharing your time together as father and child - take him out for a good meal, or stay home and cook for him. If you don’t cook, you can order out or hire a personal chef for a special meal. Jay ofCanapéof Lesa ofLesa Cooksboth love to come to your home and prepare meals for you for both special occasions and ongoing meals.

If by chance you are not one who has a father person to share time with, then why not honor someone you know who is a father, such as a friend, or if your mother was your father too, then honor her on Father’s Day. Remember, just because your father may have passed on, not play a role in your life now, or so on, doesn’t mean that you don’t get to have the honor of celebrating Father’s Day too.

Really though, Father’s Day, and Mother’s Day, is EVERY day, so after tomorrow, why wait until next year to celebrate? Any day is a good day to share time for creating memories with that special parental figure!

Happy Father’s Day to all father figures!
