Part of being green is reducing the amount of harmful chemicals that we expose ourselves and our families to. One great way to cut out some chemicals is to look hard at the way you are cleaning your house. Household cleaners are notoriously full of all varieties of harsh chemicals. These chemicals are what makes them effective at cutting whatever grimy mess you use them on.
Lately there have been many products sprouting up as alternatives to traditional cleaners. Many of these "green" cleaners are made with plant based solvents rather than traditional chemicals to make them safer for us and easier on the environment. Others produce cleaners that use natural minerals and oils to do their dirty work. One company that makes such products is Terracyle.
Terracyle produces a variety of products to include an all-purpose cleaner, window cleaner, a drain cleaner, and a bathroom cleaner. Another great thing they are doing is using plastic bottles that come from waste streams to package their products. In addition, all of their products are non-toxic and fragrance/dye free. Overall I am very excited about this line of products.
This weekend I have spent a considerable amount of time cleaning all sorts of messes using only these products to get a general idea of how well they work. Over the next couple days I will be writing articles about each product independently and letting you know how they fared against all the messes I could throw at them!
