Antioxidants are a must for a healthy lifestyle.  They play an important role in the prevention of numerous diseases, they protect your youth and help you to detox naturally.  Pomegranate is one of the fruit with the highest antioxidant concentration. It is also packed with protein, vitamins and dietary fiber. With so many health benefits, it’s not a surprise that pomegranate is considered a real superfood.

There are many ways to add pomegranate to your diet. You can use pomegranate juice in sauces, dressings and drinks, or sprinkle pomegranate grains over salads, fruit-based desserts, eat them as is, with chocolate, etc.  One of my favorite ways to reap all the health benefits of this super fruit is to add freshly squeezed juice to smoothies.  Try these delicious smoothie recipes, packed with antioxidants, to help you detox naturally and boost your overall health.

Blueberry pomegranate smoothie

  • 3/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/4 cup of pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 cup yogurt of your choice (vanilla, soy-based, coconut-based, etc.)

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Raspberry pomegranate smoothie

  • ½ cup raspberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Pomegranate sunrise

  • 1 mango, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • ¼ cup frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 2 tbsp honey or agave nectar (optional)
  • ½ cup ice cubes

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Easy banana pomegranate smoothie

  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 2 large bananas
  • Almond milk, to thin

Blend pomegranate juice and bananas until smooth. Blend in almond milk until you reach the desired consistency.
