Solar Thermal and Geo thermal not covered in Renewables Australia Fund

Posted Jun 22 2009 11:13am

The Federal government Renewables Australia Fund is not covering the two most promising renewable energy sources for base load power for Australia.

Is this due to design or oversight?

Design, because they will be economically competitive without government support compared to wind, solar panel, solar hot water and biomass.

I would rather see solar thermal and geo thermal being supported in the fund because they have the largest potential for being a credible alternative energy source.
