Yesterday was a rough day - one of those insane days that takes you by the heal and drags you behind a horse for eight hours.
Still, there were two brilliant and shining moments that made me feel incredible on a day that was anything but -
#1 - While rushing through the garden I looked down and noticed this incredible picture of nature - my Sum & Substance Hosta and Asters dancing together in the breeze - a smile just waiting to happen.
#2 - Yesterday was story-time at my second graders elementary class. I go regularly to read to the kids to help the teachers out and contribute to my daughter's class. We've been in middle of the intellectually stimulating read, "Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle."
While almost ready to start, I was surprised by a cute little boy who stood up and said loudly, "HEY!"
I smiled and responded, "yeessss?"
He continued, "YOU ROCK!"
I smile at him. There's a chorus of "Yeah's" from the crowd and then he says, "No really - YOU ROCK!!!"
"Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle" was the best read ever yesterday - it made my day to think I had touched these kids by being kind to them. They "got" it. Taking time for them makes my day and theirs.
Do you see a pattern here? Both things that made me feel the best in my day is what "Gardening Nude" is all about - being in nature and building community.
You can feel great too - go out and touch your community. They will reward you in unexpected ways. Strip away the toxic living and do good for nature and the community and you will feel wonderful!
