Simple Economic Sustainability Message that "Hits Home"

Posted Feb 19 2013 6:23am

I was at a farm visit for an article I'm writing for Edible Atlanta (which is relaunching, after having folded a few years ago) and fell upon this perfectly simple postcard.

Bravo to Jackson County, GA's Chamber of Commerce for "hitting home" with a simple economic sustainability message.

Save time. Save jobs. Buy local.

See more about the benefits of supporting local businesses in previous posts I've written:

And if you are a local service provider, here is a blog I was hired to write for a Cox Enterprises subsidiary which gives you free small business marketing advice. It is titled "101 Marketing Ideas" but there are really something like 200, so scroll through and see if you find anything helpful:

(I was also the Buy Local columnist for a regional publication named New Life Journal for a year, but that magazine folded when the economy turned. You can see samples on my portfolio here ).

I've been a small business owner for 17 years, and economic sustainability is something very close to my heart (and wallet). I get it. And I love to shout out success stories about small businesses anywhere on our FoodShed Planet that are focusing on triple-bottom-line sustainability.  If you think I should check out your business, drop me a line .
