Nanticoke New Nuclear Power Plant Project Availability of $100,000 to Participate in the Environmental Assessment
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is making funds available under its Participant Funding Program (the program) to assist individuals or groups to take part in the environmental assessment of the proposed Nanticoke New Nuclear Power Plant Project in Haldimand County, Ontario.
Phase I: Up to $100,000 is being made available immediately to help successful applicants review and comment on the draft guidelines for the environmental impact statement ( EIS ) that will be produced by the proponent, Bruce Power Erie Inc., and on the draft joint review panel agreement. These draft documents will be available for review at a later date.
Phase II: Additional funds will be made available to help applicants review the EIS and prepare for and participate in the public hearings. Phase II funding will be announced at a later date.
Funding applications received by the Agency at the address indicated below by July 27, 2009 will be considered for Phase I.

The project is a proposal by Bruce Power Erie Inc. to construct and operate up to two new nuclear reactors and associated facilities, in the former municipality of Nanticoke, Ontario, for the generation of 2200 to 3200 megawatts of electricity. The proposed site is located on the north shore of Lake Erie in Haldimand County.
