Passionate Debate: Carbon Emissions Vs. Solar Activity

Posted Oct 28 2008 9:46pm

A recent post about calculating your carbon footprint
This figure shows the history of atmospheric c...captured a lot of attention. Most readers seem to agree with the statement, "Whenever human activities involve the burning of fossil fuels, carbon dioxide is emitted. This waste will accumulate in the atmosphere, contributing to global climate change..."

However, one commenter disagrees: "I'm Proud of the 29% that haven not calculated their carbon foot print and don't care. As Carbon is not the cause of Global Warming. Solar activity is the #1 cause of Global Warming and we are in for at least a decade possibly more of the coldest weather in 50 year or more. Lack of sunspots is going to cool the planet dramatically."

In other words, the sun is to blame for all of our environmental problems, and human activity doesn't harm the earth one bit? I find that extremely hard to believe. On the contrary, I theorize that solar power is the answer to global warming.

What do you think? Take our poll, and feel free to leave a comment if you have more to add. No matter which side of the fence you're on with this issue, we want to hear about it!
