New iPhone 3G Goes Green…Sort Of.

Posted Jul 07 2008 7:16pm

Oh, the Apple iPod. It’s one of the greatest pop culture inventions of the last few years (besides the Nintendo Wii).

But ever since Apple was criticized by Greenpeace about the toxic chemicals that it uses in its products, the latest iPhone, the 3G, will now be arriving in….green packaging!

As part of the company’sGreener Apple Campaign, Apple ordered recyclable potato starch paper trays from the companyPaperFoamfor the millions of new iPods that will be released next week, which is a huge green step up from the Styrofoam that was used for the MacBook Pros.

The best part: these paper trays will have a 90% smaller carbon footprint than past packaging material.

So for the women who thought thatApple was being misogynistic because it didn’t consider that women with long nails would have trouble operating the phone, sorry, but you’re still going to have problems.

But at least the packaging will be greener than the chemicals on your nails.

Here’s a video that will tell you a little more about the new iPhone 3G:
