Beauty books. Janice Cox has authored many make your own shampoo type books. Basically, in a pinch, mix an egg up with some natural soap shavings and a touch of olive oil and fresh lemon juice. Be sure and rinse well, finishing with cool water. Artificial soaps may be easier to rinse, but they are harsher on your hair. Another quick rinse is cooled chamomile or mint tea. I have mixed this with a little Dr. Bronner's liquid peppermint soap when camping.

Basic Dry Shampoo Formula (from Annie B. Bond at Care2)
cups each cornmeal (or other flour), almond meal, and orris root powder (available in health food stores or from herbalists).

Combine the ingredients in a glass jar. Shake to blend. Dust the powder into the hair, leave it on for an hour, then brush it out.

This only takes a few minutes, and if you keep it in a glass jar with a screw top it will last for months.

Or you could use Baking Soda - its really easy

Just mix a tablespoon of baking soda with enough water to make it into a paste.  Then massage it into your scalp.

It works great.  And you can follow with a rinse of apple cider vinegar to leave your hair beautiful, smooth and shiny!
