It’s mid-month and time for May’s nominee for Stupid Plastic Crap. My sister-in-law suggested this item to me. The name alone makes it seem like a fairly good nominee. It is from Japan and its whole name is Mugen Puchi Puchi or Mugen Pop Pop. It is supposed to mimic the feel and sound of popping bubble wrap. A plastic product imitating another plastic product! It has 8 little plastic buttons to push and a small speaker that imitates the sound of bubble wrap. One website says it's available in four colors: cold sore pink, pea soup green, dying of exposure blue and cadaver grey. It comes on a keychain. The price is $5.99. You can now put it on your iPod. At least then it is not a piece of plastic.
Maybe it is fun and certainly it is addictive. In the long run it is just another useless plastic product that fowls our environment forever. Use your Big Green Purse (as Diane MacEachern would say) and do NOT buy stuff like this. We consumers decide what makes it in the market and what does not.
