Make Offsetting Part of Your Post-Party Tasks

Posted Jan 07 2009 3:04pm
About a million people braved the freezing temps to ring in the new year in Times Square. If you've stayed behind at a party, you know there's sometimes a lot of work to clean up. Although- there's probably no post-party clean-up from new year's bigger than this:

This photo illustrates in full color why carbon offsetting should be part of everyone's new year. Should there be less confetti? Even if one thinks there should be less, there's already been lots of confetti used. Including the confetti, the Department of Sanitation in the city estimated about 40 tons of trash had to be cleaned up.

If you attended the celebration or a more modest bash, this is a good time to think about your carbon footprint from last year and the year ahead. Even if you didn't go to a celebration, you still have a carbon footprint that you can offset. You can calculate and offset your footprint here.
