Maine Wind Blade Challenge and Windstorm Challenge

The Maine Wind Blade Challenge inspires students to design the best performing wind blade rotor using a given set of advanced composite materials. The Windstorm Challenge is a comprehensive high school invention competition focusing on deepwater offshore wind technology. Developed in partnership with University of Maine and Advanced Structures and Composites Center, the Windstorm Challenge tasks teams to design and construct a floating platform for a scale model wind turbine, then create a thorough business plan and sales pitch. The Windstorm Challenge uses an interdisciplinary approach necessary to solve large problems.
