Learn About Nature and Help Cure Cancer - A Perfect Gift For A Child

Posted Dec 14 2010 4:16pm

"Our Shadow Garden" by Cherie Foster Colburn

This fantastic children's book by Cherie Foster Colburn tells the story of how a young girl decides to help her grandmother who is very ill to feel better. She and her grandfather transform an outdoor space into an amazing therapeutic healing garden for her grandmother to enjoy and get healthy in.

I simply loved this book - it brought tears to my eyes - and feel teaching children the healing values of nature is a priceless education. We should all be teaching children and our families how to connect with nature for the betterment of our health.

Cherie Foster Colburn partnered in creation of this book with The Children's Art Project , a special project where children who are pediatric patients in the Children's Cancer Hospital at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center designed the art for the book. They have many challenges to overcome in addition to their fighting a disease. The Children's Art Project steps in and helps them with these challenges - all profits from the book and other art from the children go to support the cancer patients.

Children's Cancer Hospital at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, has raised more than $26 million dollars for cancer patients and their families selling note cards and gift items that feature original art by pediatric cancer patients.

If you would like to order Our Shadow Garden by Cherie Foster Colburn as a holiday gift for a loved one (remember - the profits will benefit the cancer center), please click through to this link - OUR SHADOW GARDEN .

Special thanks to Cherie Foster Colburn for sending me a review copy of this book. I am donating the book to the children's area at the CDH Proton Center in Warrenville, Illinois - a new proton therapy cancer treatment center in my community.
