“A peaceful room…aaaaah”

Posted Sep 28 2008 5:32pm

Brian, one of my bachelor clients, just spent the first 2 nights in his newly-unfolding bedroom, which has just undergone phase 1: decluttering of his re-styling. He emailed me today to say the following:

“I slept very well the past two nights. Thank you so much for what you’ve done! A peaceful room. Ahhhhh……….”

I love it! I LOVE being able to help my clients feel better in their spaces.

Step by Step

For the larger projects, styling is implemented in phases. I want to give clients some immediate results to enjoy whilst the various phases unveil the final results. This past Saturday, I did phase 1 for Brian’s bedroom and bathroom whilst Elizabeth Lee, of Seattle Organizing Works, helped him with phase 1 to begin transitioning his former home office, which has been in the dining area, into a place to, well, dine!

Some His-story

Brian’s home is small and he has been living with too much stuff for this small space. When he first moved in, Brian had full intentions of remodeling but used up all his remodeling energy and inspiration on the exterior landscaping. Since he is very busy, over the years, things like particle board shelving were put up on weekends for quick, temporary storage solutions, resulting in a sort of organized chaos, compounded by too much stuff.

Brian had come to the conclusion that the remodel isn’t going to happen for a few more years. Being that he is wanting to feel more at home and welcoming of that special someone into his life and home, he hired me to help him feel better in his space, and to feel proud of it, as he creates intention and energy around attracting that special lady for his heart.

His space already has some “good bones” to launch from…nice furnishings, some interesting art pieces, and a good bed with quality linens. This project will be about 2 months in the making as we work around his busy schedule. After decluttering, phases will be:

  • Add textiles such as sofa accent pillows, curtains, bamboo bath linens, 1 more pillow for a beloved
  • Re-design living and dining room layout and art pieces
  • Install kitchen cabinets
  • Add wall color

FUN!!

Now, two questions for you:

  1. If you were having your home interiors styled/re-styled, what would your concerns be?
  2. What is most important to you about your home interiors?
