Latest Lot Numbers Recalled in the McNeil J&J Motrin IB Recall - 6th Recall in Two Years

Posted Dec 23 2011 12:00am

McNeil Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson has issued its sixth recall in two years.  McNeil Consumer Healthcare is voluntarily recalling certain lots of MOTRIN® IB 24 count COATED CAPLETS, MOTRIN® IB 24 count COATED TABLETS and MOTRIN® IB 24+6 count COATED CAPLETS from stores. The medication was distributed in the United States, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Fiji, Belize, St. Lucia and Jamaica. Consumers do not need to dispose of or return medication.  This is not a recall because of safety or health concerns.  If consumers take the recalled medication, there could be a possible delay in experiencing pain relief as the tablets do not dissolve as quickly as they are supposed to.

Testing of pill samples showed that some caplets may not dissolve as quickly as intended when nearing their expiration date. Out of an abundance of caution, McNeil is  recalling all the listed products above as there is a slight chance that they could experience a similar problem as they approach expiration. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the McNeil Consumer Call Center at 1-888-222-6036 (open Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time).

And on a side note, I use a generic, dye-free, ibuprofen I get at CVS.  They are easy to take, less expensive than name brand Ibuprofen and I love that there are no petroleum based dyes used in the ingredients!

P.S.- Have you heard about The Green PolkaDot Box ! Recently launched with over 12,000 members and backed by the Organic Consumer's Association, you can easily buy NonGMO organics at wholesale pricing online.  It's like a Sam's club but focused on products for green, healthy living!!  You can even shop by dietary restrictions like gluten free, vegan or diabetic.
