It's Not Just "Made in China" - Recalls Impact Toys Made Elsewhere

Posted Aug 26 2008 11:36pm

Bob's been busy...the lone, full time, toy safety tester at the CPSC must be working double shifts these days since a rash of new recalls has been announced. Interestingly, he is now looking further afield.

Today's recall is a Fisher-Price Kitchen made in..nope, not China...Mexico. Though independent toy retailers tell me parents flock to their stores now looking for toys not made in China...the hazards can be found elsewhere than the continent of Asia. I'm not necessarily sure "made in America" counts for anything either....after all, what is the regulating agency?

I'm sticking with European made toys and those made by manufacturers invested in the green movement. ( I'm looking forward to the launch of Green Toys in 2008.

BTW- I like the Little Colorado Kitchens but they're pricey. Willow Tree Toys and Magic Cabin have some lower cost alternatives.
