International Day of Climate Action: It's Still Going

Posted Oct 29 2009 11:00pm

The International Day of Climate Action has come and gone, but the momentum for a strong international climate-change treaty is still building. Last Saturday, many of us spent the day showing our support for such action at one of the more than 5,200 events held around the world.

Curious about what went down? Watch the short video above for an inspiring look. It's heartening to know that people all over the world want action on climate change, in spite of a recent poll suggesting that Americans are less concerned with it now than they have been in recent years.

If you were at an event on Saturday and have pictures, consider sharing them with your congressperson -- these decision-makers won't do anything about climate change or the environment if they don't know that people care. Register online at 350.org and the organization's team will contact you to connect you with others in your area so you can deliver your photos or testimonials en masse for maximum effect.

You can also contact your representative or senator regarding your thoughts about the Clean Energy Jobs Bill, which would create 1.7 million jobs while reducing our country's greenhouse-gas emissions.
