If you’re in the market for a certified-green gingerbread house this holiday season, you might be interested in the sugary creations of some Vancouver architects.
These whimsical builders used gumdrops, gingerbread, and frosting to build models of the latest innovations in eco-friendly homes. One such model, the Earthship Lollipop, is certified LEAD (Leadership in Edible Architectural Design) platinum while another, mgb Ginger Tower 062, is built from “reclaimed Christmas records with inserted pre-fabricated gingerbread cookies.”
Cocoa Cabana offers a retelling of the tragic Gingerbread Man story. Instead of being eaten by the fox, “Gingy” tricks the fox with a nice glass of Cognac. He relishes his time in his home smelling the delights of Christmas.
Winners will be celebrated later today at the Gingerbread Gala in Vancouver, a fundraiser to benefit Architecture for Humanity, a group of international builders that provides design, construction, and development services to needy communities.
