Get Yo Healthy On Exercise in Nature With Me at Boot Camp

Americans and people the world over are increasingly out of shape and unhealthy. This is disturbing to me as I have noticed I feel happier, less depressed, and more energetic when I exercise. Imagine if everyone had more energy and was less depressed – our world would be a different place to live in.
When I wrote my greening and better health book, Gardening Nude, my goal was to inspire people to feel better by getting outside in nature to exercise and live a greener lifestyle. Happily, I recently met Jeremy Glasgow who runs Underground Core Fitness and feels the same way as I do about the benefits of exercising in nature. In the photo above you see him working with one of his clients. He runs a series of exercise boot camps near my home in the western suburbs of Chicago which focus on outdoor exercise utilizing traditional techniques with not-so-traditional tools like ropes and kettleballs.
Bravely, I have decided to join Jeremy this summer for boot camp. This is my personal journey to help strengthen my “core”. As a heavy gardener I exercise a lot, but my tummy and back has lost strength due to repeated lifting injury’s and I want to hone the condition of these muscles.
Living a green lifestyle means getting out in nature more – both to appreciate it and to expose yourself to the experience of touching the environment. Exercising outdoors in nature is beneficial for you because feel good brain chemicals such as serotonin kick-in when you are exposed to sun and nature. This is what makes you feel energized and less depressed.
Follow along throughout the year and tell me what you will be doing this season to spend more time outdoors exercising.
