Recycling and reusing old products into new is something which is common on the Moss Mountain property. Many of the sheds have been built from reused materials, for example. Beyond beautiful interior's and sweeping gardens, Allen's home and property is filled with earth-friendly and sustainable materials such as low or no VOC paint selections (which are chosen to match the colors of Arkansas nature), natural fiber furniture, insulation made from recycled blue-jean material, energy star-rated appliances, rain water harvesting, gray water water re-use systems, and much more. What I learned from spending time at the Moss Mountain Garden Home Retreat, is that Allen feels he is personally connected to his viewers as an educator. His passion for home and garden design, eco-sustainability, and growing vegetables is strongly tied to keeping his hands in the dirt and his eye on the goal - - inspiring viewers to further their health and soul by living a life filled with beauty, well-being, and nature. Allen Smith Garden2Blog event, please go to the below links from The Casual Gardener Blog Day two P. Allen Smith's property. *Note - Because the FTC requires it, I am noting that P. Allen Smith
and his amazing team paid for this trip and Garden2Blog experience for
all attendees - his team flew 20 of the best garden and green living bloggers in the nation in
to have the experience. We were not told what to document or how to
document the experience, we were simply asked to attend - anything
expressed in posts related to the Garden2Blog event is my own opinion
expressed from my own personal experience.

P. Allen Smith's home at the Moss Mountain Garden Retreat. The tree in front of the home is over 300 years old and is lovingly tended by Allen's staff.
When I first received the invitation to visit Little Rock, Arkansas with PBS tv personality P. Allen Smith and his team, I thought I might get to see his garden at the Moss Mountain Garden Home Retreat for his 2011 Garden2Blog Event . What I got was far more than that; it was a personal glimpse into his heart.
In a world that's filled with anger, pain, and economical strife, Allen is trying to bring awareness of green lifestyle and design ideas which focus on nature. He believes in every way that history, design, and nature should be united. This is seen in the architecture of his garden and home which combines utility, beauty, and historical interest.
