This week the House voted on the Comprehensive American Energy Security and Consumer Protection Act,
H.R. 6899. Although much is to be said for this act, there are a few points worth noting. There are provisional tax incentives for those who use and invest in renewable energy, subsid
ies to oil companies will be cut (
by $18 billion!!! ) and there will be increased investment in the renewable energy sector. These great ideas aren’t anything new, and have been introduced several times before -- but it is always nice to see them keep coming back until victory is achieved.

Until we, as a country, have the political will to pass legislation that takes us toward our new energy future, we’ll have to volunteer to do it.
