Find out what the Energy Empowers editorial team is talking about this week...around the water cooler.

Green giants:  It was only a matter of time before energy efficiency got really big. This week, the EPA and DOT proposed the nation’s first fuel efficiency standards starting in 2014 for heavy trucks and buses that would reduce emissions and fuel consumption by 20%.

Celebrate green times: Attendees at last weekend’s Washington, D.C., Green Festival were treated to green fashion, gardening and home tips. Energy Empowers writer Lindsay Gsell  attended the event, shared DOE energy-saving tips and led attendees through the “Anatomy of House” exhibit, a life-size model showing proper insulation levels and windows that can save money on utility bills.

What are you thinking? Now is your chance to teach us something. DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy wants feedback on its website, so please take five minutes and fill out this survey.  Help us make it better and more useful for you.
