Darlington New Nuclear Power Plant Project Technical Information Session on Nuclear Power Plant Designs
OTTAWA, December 10, 2009– The Joint Review Panel for the Darlington New Nuclear Power Plan Project invites the public to attend a technical information session in Ottawa regarding proposed nuclear power plant designs, based on three different reactor technologies.
The objective of the half-day session is to provide information on reactor technologies in order to allow the Panel to acquire an understanding of the reactors’ principal design features, layouts, key operational parameters, overall normal operation, key safety systems, and the key similarities and differences of the technologies.

Theprojectis a proposal by Ontario Power Generation for the site preparation, construction, operation, decommissioning and abandonment of up to four new nuclear reactors at its existing Darlington Nuclear site located near Oshawa, Ontario, along the north shore of Lake Ontario, in the Municipality of Clarington. The project is expected to generate approximately 4800 megawatts of electricity for delivery to the Ontario grid.
