The AWEA Utility Working Group (AUWG) webinar will cover the American Wind Wildlife Institute's (AWWI's) efforts to create the tools to address mitigating impacts of wind on wildlife.
Abby Arnold, executive director of AWWI, will present AWWI's unique collaboration between 31 partners from the wind industry, utilities, environmental and science NGOs, and state agencies. Hear an overview of AWWI's main projects, including the Landscape Assessment Tool, The Eagle Mitigation Initiative, support for applied research program, and the growing Mitigation plan. Ms. Arnold will discuss ways in which, as an AWWI partner, a utility can utilize these tools and new data available from AWWI's research program to increase predictability and reduce risk associated with the operation and maintenance of a wind portfolio.
This summer, the wind industry surpassed 50,000 MW of wind in the ground. AWWI is expanding beyond siting to developing tools and strategies to address minimizing impacts of operating wind facilities on wildlife. Ms. Arnold will also provide time to answer questions and seek your ideas for how AWWI can respond to the needs of the utility sector and provide immediate support in the areas where AWWI's expertise, experience, and collaborative model can deliver viable solutions.
