In February , we reported that Canada's big oil companies are clear-cutting ancient forests to extract oil from the sand beneath. We also told of the Sierra Club’s campaign to halt this destructive practice (aside from devastating the land, tar-sands oil is the most harmful type for the atmosphere).
Recently, Thom Yorke , the lead singer of Radiohead , has joined the chorus of protesters. He’s been blogging against the practice on the band’s site . His latest post warns fans that their pensions may be invested in tar-sands projects and urges them to take action .
