A Greener Music Tour Hits Ski Resorts

Posted Dec 10 2009 12:15pm

Yukon.kornelius We love supergroups -- picture members of all your favorite bands united on one stage, playing in perfect harmony. Brings a tear of joy to the eye, doesn’t it?

So we think fans of Dave Matthews Band, N.E.R.D., Guster, Spymob, and Barenaked Ladies will be pleased that supergroup Yukon Kornelius will be playing in Vail, Colorado, this Friday as part of the IZSTYLE winter tour, a green-flavored music tour making stops at ski resorts around the country this winter. The group’s name is a homage to the peppermint-hunting prospector in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Special guests are likely – last year, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister showed up.

The tour is dedicated to raising environmental awareness via Reverb, the brainchild of environmentalist Lauren Sullivan and her husband, Guster’s Adam Gardner. The company gives music tours and events green makeovers with carbon offsets, biodegradable food products, and other eco-services. So far they’ve whipped 70 tours into shape, preventing some 62,600 tons of carbon emissions.
