WOOT! We have finally arrived in Mexico having traveled all day yesterday. Here’s my view of my family most of the day. Yep. There’s the kiddo and a loudly snoring Luis. Of course, the immediate disaster was the airlines lost one very
important piece of luggage – MINE! Yep, that would be the one packed with all the suntan lotion, shampoo, make up and other vital details every woman MUST have. Cancun Airport was fantastic – the Mexican people are wonderful and efficient. I was happy to get through customs, car rental and head to our resort in Cancun, which will be the base of operations for this first week. However, it was so late by the time we arrived I only found one store open to buy an emergency outfit for today.
The one saving grace? I packed the computer and swimsuit in the carry-on luggage. Woo hoo! If a woman has her swimsuit and computer, what else does she need? Maybe a Margarita, and that’s about it!
Although our adventures will be focused on greening and eco-adventure, our resort is not an eco-centered attraction. It is a four-star beauty which we have been coming to for years and love. Royal Resorts Sands ( http://bit.ly/X1e1P ) is set in Cancun and has a world-class spa. You can see the view from our room of the pool and ocean – just gorgeous! Part of the reason for our passion over this place is the fact that you often see the same people on the same dates returning year after year – we have built a wonderful group of great friends because of this – it is a nice community and lots of fun to be a part of. What makes this trip different for us is that we will be searching out green and eco-adventure at every turn so we can
bring the story to you.
First green thing I noticed upon arrival is a sign in our villa bathroom encouraging people to hang the towels on the towel rack to save washing water. Love it! A great green tip – why have your towels and bedding changed every day when it’s unnecessary? If you are traveling, ask your hotel to keep your bedding and towels so you can reuse them and save water in the process.
We are off today to go on a ziplining adventure at Selvatica – I have no idea what to expect because I have never been to the top of a jungle, nor swimming in a cenote, nor ziplining. Tune in later today for photos and details. Wish us luck – I hope I don’t fall out of a tree!
