I recently attended a home energy conference in Palo Alto, California that focused on appliances and technology that has been proven to save energy consumption. Rich Green, Founder of Rich Green, Ink has been in the A/V business for years and mentioned the following as the Top 10 ways to save energy in the home:
Actively Manage your Energy use
Install Low Energy Lights (CFL…)
Buy Low Energy Electronics and Appliances (GE)
Kill your TV
I think many of theses processes are quick to implement, but some require a high amount of capital. It is best to budget wisely and figure out what comes out to be more efficient for you. The good thing is that many companies like Control4 are offering these solutions at multiple cost points with simple installation.
