I read Gene's article this evening and it inspired me to write an entry too.
I too am a guinea pig. I go to appointments evey year where they ask loads of questions, do test after test (colour tests, memory tests...) and I'm signed up with predict-hd, which will do MRI scans and goodness knows what else at the end of the summer.
I do find these appointments really difficult. It's not easy answering questions about your personality, almost defending who you are, even though they don't mean the questions to feel like that. And it brings everything back, everything that might be if the worst happens. And always I can't stop the tears rolling down my cheek.
But I am in this fight, and I am going to fight with every weapon available. Whatever I can do, whether it's exercising, eating healthily, taking supplements, having PGD or being poked and prodded in a million and one tests, I don't care. I am part of the army fighting to stop this disease and I will fight on.
Guinea pigs we might be but together we can do amazing things.
