Where's the Face in Facebook?

Posted Sep 01 2010 5:44am

Ok, so I admit this is a bit of a rant. So, if you  want to skip this to something else, something that seems more relevant to you, I understand.

But, here's what we received from Facebook about a week ago regarding our Sports Center page:

"Hello,

The page "Sports Center" has been removed because it violated our Terms of Use. A
Facebook Page is a distinct presence used solely for business or promotional purposes.  Among other things, Pages that are hateful, threatening, or obscene are not allowed. We also take down Pages that attack an individual or group, or that are set up by an unauthorized individual. If your Page was removed for any of the above reasons, it will not be reinstated.  Continued misuse of Facebook's features could result in your account being disabled.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can visit the Terms applicable to
Facebook Pages at http://www.facebook.com/terms_ pages.php .

Huh? Hateful? Threatening? Obscene? Really?

No warning. Just gone. Poof. So now, as you may have noticed, the links to our Facebook page are all broken. That looks good.

When I checked the terms of use, I couldn't find any we had violated.

I thought this must be some misunderstanding. I'll just get in touch with Facebook and sort this out.

That's when I discovered there is no "face" in or with Facebook.

No contact us page, no email, no phone number. No way to "connect" with the largest website in the world that connects millions of people.

So, if you've trying to follow us on Facebook and have found nothing, now you know why.

End of rant.
