What is Chiropractic?

Posted Jul 26 2010 9:36am

Chiropractic care at its core is the restoration of normal function to the nervous system by the use of an adjustment to a specific joint.  The effected joint can be either spinal, which is most often the case, or your shoulder, elbow, knees, etc.  Chiropractic allows the body to reach it’s inborn innate potential to heal itself.  The reason it can do this is by allow proper nerve function within the body, this will allow the body to complete the inflammation cycle.  Once the entire inflammatory process goes through the repair and remodel stage is makes the body healthier and stronger than before.  A chiropractic adjustment sets a joint back to neutral, or where it should be, to allow for the process to start.

Although most people seek chiropractic care for pain relief, the first stage of inflammation; however, chiropractic is preventative in nature.  Because an skilled chiropractor can fix subluxations the patient doesn’t know about halting the progress of future problems.  There is many times I have found pelvic subluxations on a patient complaining of neck problems.  How many low back problems are prevented when these pelvic problems are corrected on the same visit?  This leads me to conclude that anyone desiring to have a healthy life or healthy lifestyle must include chiropractic care as preventive measure to insure proper functioning of their body’s structural system.
