WELCOME to a “Sneak Preview” of TheCaregiversVoice.com

Posted Feb 26 2010 10:14am

Welcome to a “sneak preview” of our newly upgraded TheCaregiversVoice.com—the independent voice of caregivers for adults with brain impairment.

Look around, you’ll find top-of-the-page links to help you in all facets of your caregiving journey or that of your clients:

All are designed to serve your needs whether you are a professional, family caregiver, a member of the media, or a student doing research.

While many helpful sites have closed during the past dozen years or are no longer actively updated, TheCaregiversVoice.com is still here and we’re stronger than ever!

We first launched a website in 1998 to help fellow caregivers, two years after I began caring for my father and only months before my fifth book, “Where’s my shoes?” My Father’s Walk through Alzheimer’s was released. There were only a handful of us pioneering family caregivers willing to share our stories publicly. Our initial website had humble beginnings–two pages added to a fellow caregiver’s son’s astronomy website.

In 2002, with the help of a child prodigy (who grew up to be a NASA scientist), we launched the second version and fully customized website. This is when we began using “The Caregiver’s Voice.”

After fourteen years, where I served as a caregiver, spokesperson, and/or advocate and a lot of behind-the-scenes work with MonkeyCMedia , the company who helped us put this newly upgraded site together, we are proud to release the newest version of TheCaregiversVoice.com.

Look around. We need your comments. We’ll be tweaking the site over the next two months. If a link doesn’t work or you find something that doesn’t make sense, please do let us know. Also, if there’s something you really like, we need your feedback. Over the next several months, we’ll be migrating or updating articles from our old site.

In late April, we’ll be having a formal launch of the newly upgraded The Caregiver’s Voice website in the north Los Angeles area. Let us know if you’ll be in the area and would like an invitation.

Enjoy your “sneak preview.” Remember, we want to hear from you!
