Editorial Director of F1000 Biology Kathleen Wets went to Israel earlier this year to meet some of the F1000 Faculty from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Below, they tell us about their varied research.
Misha Tsodyks has been an F1000 Section Head of the ‘Theoretical & Computational Neuroscience’ section since 2001. He works in the Department of Neurobiology, and is also the Chief Editor of Frontiers of Computational Neuroscience. Here, he describes his lab work in the theoretical modelling of neural networks that underlie learning and memory in the brain
Rony Seger is a Faculty Member in Molecular Pharmacology and works in the Department of Biological Regulation at the Weizmann Institute of Science. Here, he describes his lab’s findings, in particular, how proteins called importins, which move proteins into the nucleus, could be used to interfere with cell proliferation, hence providing a potential drug target for cancer therapeutics.
Avri Ben-Ze’ev is an F1000 Faculty Member in the Cytoskeleton Section. He works in the department of Molecular Cell Biology at the Weizmann Institute. In this video, he describes his research on the cell adhesion and its importance in cancer development and the formation of distant metastases.
