weakness in the ankle, with skin numbness

A little over a week ago I bruised my knee cap bad enough to cause me to limp. Now my knee is better but the ankle on that leg is weird. It seems weak, I can't lift it properly and I actually have a numb spot on the skin above it. Any suggestions?
